My warmest greetings.
Many of you will know me. Most who do not will know of me. My name is Niobe Riette, and I love this city. In the years I have lived here, I have experienced life in such a fashion as I would never have believed possible within the humble world from whence I came. Many whom I have come to know in my time here think this place a prison - even some within mine own guild choose to see the bars of a gilded cage. I choose to think differently.
This is no prison, no cell. This place is like nothing that exists anywhere else. Here are gathered the greatest individuals from across the infinite universe - those bold enough to step across the ultimate threshold, those strong enough to seize the reins of their own destiny and guide it here, to the greatest conflux of promise and power ever seen. Within this city exists the potential to build the greatest society ever seen.
That potential lies within each of you. I have chosen to send you his letter because you are numbered among the leading lights and rising stars of our fair city. This call goes out across the petty divides of guild and allegiance, to all who I consider to have a part to play in forging the links that will bind the people of this city together, and unlock our shared destiny.
Together we have the power to accomplish this, but the city today is riven through with division. The guilds (and mine is just as guilty of this as any other) keep to themselves, eying one another as threats and competition, and those who choose an independent allegiance as dangerous radicals. This must end. I know every one of you receiving this letter has something to offer this city, but only through cooperation can these individual talent be discovered and utilised.
Therefore, I invite you to join me two weeks hence for a soiree at my mansion. It is my fond hope to meet as many of you as possible, and more importantly, that you will get to know one another. Our city is ever faced by both threat and opportunity. Together, we can overcome the former and unlock the latter.
I eagerly await your replies, and look forward to greeting you.
