Sessions

What do sessions represent?

Sessions of End of the Line represent a regular meeting between some of the more influential individuals within the city. The first has been called together by Niobe Riette, Guildmistress of the Renaissant, and is being held at her mansion in the canopy. Later sessions may take place at different locations. Your character will have received the invitation visible on the front page of the wiki. This will have been accompanied by a much less grand card covering some of the logistical formalities and rules of the meeting.

In-Character Rules

  • Lady Riette guarantees safe passage within her estates for all who attend in a spirit of peace
  • Violence is prohibited at the meeting (except by prior agreement of all involved parties and permission granted by the host).
  • Violence will be answered with confiscation of portable property. Repeated violence will be answered with violence.
  • No damaging the fabric of the meeting place.
  • Steps will be taken to ensure the safety of all attendees.
  • If required, an armed escort can be provided to and from the meeting.
  • If you do not wish to attend in person, we would be honoured to receive a representative in your place.

Out of Character Rules

  • The above are all in-character. The rules can be ignored if you so choose. This is highly likely to have consequences unless you are very, very careful about it.
  • If you want to try something violent or clever in session, please find a GM before doing so.
  • If you do decide to try something violent or dynamic, other people will get a chance to respond before you can do something else unless you have a specific reason. For example, you cannot say “I stab Cornelius the destroyer in the back, then roll away and dive out of the window”. If other characters wish to respond to your behaviour with a fireball, they will be able to do so before you can get out of the window.
  • As suggested IC, it is legitimate to send a minion to the meetings in your place. If you are doing this, please notify the GMs at the start of the session. If appropriate, this will then be announced to the rest of the playerbase.
  • The mechanics of the session are otherwise entirely IC. Any effects that appear to be under operation during the session are there IC, and we are happy for players to attempt to investigate and/or subvert these (though it may well prove challenging).
  • It is possible, but very, very difficult, to kill another PC in session. The consequences for doing this are likely to be dire.

Costume

Many players in the society game like to wear costumes to help make their character visually distinct and recognisable. While this is encouraged, it is in no way required.

Many society members have an abundance of spare costume that they can lend out if you don't think you have anything appropriate.
