The Spider

The spider is a strange creature and those seeking his/her (it's hard to tell) aid are usually at their wits ends and the spider is their last resort. Usually mostly human in appearance, the spider seems to always occupies three dimensions at any given timeā€¦ however these three dimensions are not always the same three that you're occupying. This leads to some very strange interactions with a creature that only exists in one or two dimensions that you can see - even more disconcerting if he/she changes dimensions during a conversation with him/her.

The Spider has a lair in the underground. An open cavern that at first glance appears to defy the influence of the labyrinth beneath. Upon closer inspection though you can see it does conform to the pattern, just not visibly, and so traversing it can be very tricky as you're forced to keep to paths that you can't see and space tends to twist strangely about you.

The Spider deals mostly in information. He/she picks up an awful lot around the City and is willing to trade it for something that it finds interesting. This could be more information, it could be a service, it could be a particular shade of the colour blue. The spider is unpredictable and while usually helpful can also be capricious and doesn't really understand people very well. (Think the weaver in perdido street station).

The spider is actually a sorcerer (very old, very twisted, very experienced) with a very carefully concealed treasure trove of books and so forth.
